Baskets made from bamboo, wood, or willows have been widely used since the early times in China.
This red and black pine wood basket dates from the early to mid-1800's and was mainly used for holding supplies or storage at that time. The upper and lower two-story design is simple in workmanship and has an ornate painted lid. The lid has a painted lacquer design with black, gold and red, showing two warriors chasing a knight, depicting a scene of battle. The outer circle is painted with four classic Chinese auspicious symbols: fan, gourd, flower and flute.
It offers a striking and functional accent for any modern home décor.
