An ancestral painting of an official, Wong Guan Dien, and his wife seated on round backed chairs, each with an elaborately embroidered chair mantel. The “Bu Zi”, or Mandarin Square centered on their robes indicates the husband’s official ranking of fifth level in the Imperial Court. Both of their robes and the wife’s hat are elaborately detailed in multi colors as is the crane and cloud rug under their chairs. The calligraphy above describes the official’s history and includes the name of the artist. A well detailed and rare ancestral painting.
